Napoleon quoted an old saw about the Italians that they never finished a war on the same side as they started it, with the exception of wars when they switched sides twice! So maybe it is better to have the Italians heading the UN Force in Lebanon because unlike the French, who switched sides twice in World War II and switched once in the UN Iraq War runup, the Italians are relatively dependable!
