Ponnuru in NYT: Repubs Should Lose House

Ramesh Ponnuru may actually have a point, given that the "Contract With America" has become a pork and earmark food fight among Repubs to spend without taxing. With DeLay and Cunningham as poster boys, some voter retribution against the Republicans is in order.

The nut-roots will demonstrate their trademark hysteria and egg already addled elected frauds like Conyers, Alcee Hastings, Dingell, and Kucinich to make greater fools, if possible, of themselves than they have as a shadow govt. I have to guiltily admit some admiration for Rangel, with his draft provision, and Frank, with his occasional wit.

Writing in the NYT, one can understand why Ponnuru is soft on the competence issue of Pelosi and the hilarious gang of entitled morons who will be Committee Chairmen if the Dems win in November. Pelosi has shown a tone-deaf tin-ear to nuances of politics, actually for a while wanting to call the Dems mid-term campaign this year, advised by a Berkeley perfesser to do so, the "Contract ON America." Italian-American Pelosi is so out of touch that she missed the Godfather echo that would make Dems hit-men. While touting unions and workers' rights, she sure doesn't let them operate in her extensive family businesses. Hypocrisy as usual on the left.

The Dems probably will be hit-men, pushing for Bush's impeachment and certain to lie and cheat while the MSM serves as a cheerleading section for their favorite team. And just as predictably, this will make preparing a '08 election certain more amenable to Repubs, once the Dems prove again Will Rogers' old maxim still works: "I belong to no organized political party, I'm a Democrat."
