Gas Prices Tumble

The Price of Gasoline is the single greatest variable in the attitude of the American voter. Back in 1988 I received a bonus at Drexel Burnham when I noted in print that the Saudis were forcing oil prices down to unheard of levels around $10/barrel to help GHWB defeat the hapless Dukakis, down from close to $40/bbl before the Saudi intervention with OPEC. And that was near a hundred buck per barrel in today's simollians.

Hilariously, a blonde MSNBC bimbo named Witt who is ludicrously and brainlessly lefty opined recently that it was another Rove/Cheney conspiracy at work. If that's so, good for them! If they could bring down the WTC towers without detection, they can bring down gas prices.

Actually, the US could go much further to lower its energy costs by opening up Prudhoe Bay to development. The Gulf of Mexico finds are five miles deep and difficult to exploit. And the tar sands of Canada and Colorado are wasteful of fresh water and dreadfully expensive. How GWB managed six years as prez without getting ANWR online is a testament to his fumble-fingered ineptitude and Frist's feckless leadership.
