The Democratic Convention may be the first Convention in living memory without the traditional balloon cascade at the very end. Why?
Some of the jaundiced MSM types last week commented on the Republican balloon drop as the "favorite part" of their long convention experience. But even the most jaded is not as non-committal as CNN, which used to be a journalistic enterprise. A guy named Steinhauser manages to NOT CONNECT the fact that the lack of balloons was due to the move from outside at the 70,000 person stadium to the cozy environs of the Bank of America arena. Nor did the intrepid Steinhauser dare to mention that the threat of rain or lightning [and incidentally, balloons] affecting the outdoor stadium were nil to none since about Tuesday.
And Steinhauser left out the tidbit that the DNC & Obama's "vast" advance apparatus just weren't going to be able to even partially fill that stadium, leaving the specter of tens of thousands of empty seats---as happened to Romney in the Silverdome.
Good to see Steinhauser bowing to his DNC masters in this regard.
"Much have I seen and known; cities of men And manners, climates, councils, governments, ...the fortune of us that are the moon's men doth ebb and flow like the sea, being govern'd, as the sea is, by the moon" [Henry IV, I.ii.31-33] HISTORY NEVER REPEATS ITSELF, BUT IT OFTEN RHYMES "There is a Providence that protects idiots, drunkards, children and the United States of America."
