Daniel Yergin spent 45 minutes last nite on Charlie Rose's show evading the question whether or not to drill offshore & in ANWR. The cagey Yergin, who yearns for a top job with the Obamanation crowd, simply avoided, evaded, and sneaked around every query by Rose on actually increasing US oil supply.
Slippery as an eel, this particular oil expert is more of a politician than an economist. His career started out with a book I read in the late '70s, a revisionist view of the Cold War. Yergin morphed into an "economist" and has written well on oil issues, but now fancies himself ready for high appointive office, judging from his performance on the Charlie Rose show.
And that would not be in a Republican administration.
"Much have I seen and known; cities of men And manners, climates, councils, governments, ...the fortune of us that are the moon's men doth ebb and flow like the sea, being govern'd, as the sea is, by the moon" [Henry IV, I.ii.31-33] HISTORY NEVER REPEATS ITSELF, BUT IT OFTEN RHYMES "There is a Providence that protects idiots, drunkards, children and the United States of America." Otto von Bismarck
