Dubious Awards

Last night the Faux News Show with Jon Steward had Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg on to present a "Profiles in Courage" talking head schtick for this year's recipient. I wondered to myself what sort of high courage it takes for an over-the-hill drunkard to turn tail and run, or advocate doing so, in order to gain the plaudits of a vapid crew of America-haters? And an MSM itching to blame Bush for everything that goes wrong anywhere in the world.

The humorous part of the Daily Show's parading of Caroline was Jon Stewart trying to get her to name some people who did NOT deserve the award. Actually, the book Profiles in Courage by JFK [and ghostwriter NYT reporter Arthur Krock] is back on the newstand/bookstore in paperback.

The left's hyperflatulence is especially windy about its moral courage, especially far away from harm's way, in denouncing how the Global War On Terror coulda woulda shoulda yadda yadda and WMD and all sorts of cowardly sniveling cheap shots about almost everything going wrong in the world. It's the Bush Derangement Syndrome.

John Leo has a nice piece on just how vapid, mindless, and silly the current proliferation of awards and presentations are becoming. Rachel Corrie is the new heroine of choice. Click on the link and observe just how far down the slippery slope of backsliding weaselhood our friends on the ultra-left have slid.
