The "St. Anthony" Bridge appears to have been some sort of accident waiting to happen, according to the link above.
I lived in the Twin Cities area for four years & do recall that the high bridge right next to the I-35 bridge was where poet John Berryman leaped to his death in the early '70s. Those Minnesota winters can get to you.
I'd be interested to know what other bridges are rated as "structuraliy deficient" as this one was. I wonder why the ratings for bridge safety are not public knowledge.
