George Will: Republican Defeat Inevitable?

George Will trots out a lot of poll data which demonstrates that the Republicans will probably lose in '08. Or they will squeak through with McCain. Here's George Will on the Canadian government of Michigan [oops! I meant the Canadian governor!]:
Tuesday's Republican primary is in one of the nation's worst-governed states. Under a Democratic governor, Michigan has been taxed into a one-state recession. Native son Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate who best understands how wealth is created, might revive his campaign by asking: Whom do you want to be president in 2010 when the Bush tax cuts, which McCain opposed, expire? Can automakers endure more regulations such as the fuel efficiency mandates that climate-fixers such as McCain favor? Do you want a president (Mike Huckabee, proponent of a national sales tax of at least 30 percent) pledged to radically increase the proportion of federal taxes paid by the middle class?

At 7AM this morning, CNN [Clinton News Network] had Mike Huckabee on being interviewed in a friendly fashion. At 7:15 AM Monday morning, Mikey was being
interviewed by a gushing Ms Brzezinski, who cannot dissemble her enthusiasm for Highlarious Hillary and her latest Hitman BET Chief Robert Johnson, who repeated Shaheen's NH gambit of accusing Obama of drug use. Talk about black-on-black racism!

Huckabee is the two Hillary cable outlets [pace Chris Matthews] favorite in the Repub category because this tax-raising, Willie Horton-loving, foreign policy dimwit is perhaps the easiest Republican to defeat in November. Perhaps the only Repub Hillary could defeat. Too bad Thompson gets rebuffed by the Democrat cable TV monsters, but it looks like the Dems might settle for John McCain, a RINO who's strong on national security, but weak on immigration.

Fox, of course, is closely following Britney Spears' court appearance today, and breathlessly doing a Golden Globe follow-up.
