US Edges Ahead of ChiComs in Olympics

The USA wins the women's soccer, water polo, men's decathlon, men's triple jump & a lot of silvers and bronzes to move ahead of China 90 to 80 in the aggregate medal count. And don't forget that a lot of the Chinese golds are in table tennis, badminton and other sports never practiced on the Elysian Fields of the Peloponnesus.

The USA is raking in the classical sport medallions while diving & field hockey & soccer & tennis, competitions & even sports not dreamed of back in the days of Pindar and Aeschylus.

And while such a fuss is made of how US women are exceeding the medal count of their male compatriots, let's recall that most of the countries in these games do not have much of a female contingent, such as the Arab & Latin American countries as well as poor countries the world wide who simply can't afford to field female [or sometimes male] athletes in expensive London.
