Anyone surprised about the ascendancy of Gazprom to the top of the world's capitalist companies should read "Petrostate," by Marshall Shuman, who was Counselor to Cyrus Vance while I was in the State Dept, poring over his studies on the USSR wearing a green eyeshade like a CPA. This was back in the days when Zbigniew Brzezinski was predicting the collapse of the Soviet Union and Marshall was counseling caution.
Marshall's book on the Russin oil and gas industry is anything but cautious. He outlines a long-term chess game whereby Putin & Co. will use Russia to subject Western Europe via the ironically named "Friendship" pipeline until they're addicted to cheap gas and groggy until the prices suddenly rise. Ask the former Ukrainian Prime Minister as she rots in jail through the machinations of the Machiavelli of our age, Vlad the Empoisoner Putin, using the Russian-speaking Donets Basin minority to try to suborn Ukraine through its current Prime Minister. Putin has a plan to bring back the Ukraine to the Russian Motherland, and it involves poison as well as love potions. The PM before her who was freely-elected after the "Orange Revolution" had dinner with one of Putin's special envoys and almost died of polonium poisoning after the meal. He survived, but his health was undermined and his Ukrainian political enemies allowed the country to eventually fall under Russian influence. Soon, if events continue to march in this direction, the Ukraine will be another Belarus, completely under Putin's thumb.
Putin is Josif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili reincarnated, with the penchant for poison Stalin's Ossetian father may have given him genetically through his Persian & Jewish genes [Dzhugashvili means "son of a Jew." The Persian Qajar Shahs had ruled Georgia before the Czar conquered it fifty years before Stalin was born and the Qajar divan's use of exotic potions & fatal admixtures was legendary.] Montefiori's book on Stalin dwells on the elderly Stalin's rewriting of Georgian history---to be published in Soviet schools, of course---with a special emphasis on ethnic backgrounds. This had been the original way Stalin had impressed Lenin back in the day. Stalin's real genius was with poisons and he read up on Qajar lore profusely.
Putin is using his former KGB comrades in the new FSR as his cat's paws. He uses poison like Polonium when nothing else will advance this chess player's long-range plans.
The oafish Germans are the channel whereby Putin, who speaks German fluently and Merkel, who learned Russian during her youth in the ludicrously-named German Democratic Republic [GDR] plan to use gas to replace nuke power in Germany's new ENERGIEWENDE, touted around the world for its wind farms and solar panels and phase-out of nuclear plants after the tsunami disaster.
Did Markus Wolf recruit Angela Merkel as the ultimate mole? Willy Brandt came close, but she might have achieved perfection in achieving the template to tax us all for breathing & exhaling evil carbon dioxide.
Putin and Merkel may be in cahoots. Their allies in the USA are the green tree-huggers of the Democrat Party, that's for sure. Pelosi and her cohorts in crime are ready to undermine our Constitution via energy policy---ANWR & the "moratorium" in offshore drilling are simply the First Act. "Fracking" is a sideshow for clowns like Ruffalo & other Hollyweird losers for the time being, but if Oblunder is re-elected, look for the takeover of American energy just like Putin took over Russian energy.
If only BarackO had the stones to resist Putin and his nasty allies like Bashar Assad and Ayatollah Khamenei. I don't want him in the Oval Office in 2013 fucking up the US Constitution while Botox Nancy and Dingy Harry misrule Congress.
