SNL puts Teddy in the [Drunk] Tank

George Stephanopoulos had a rerun of the hilarious little SNL sketch of Rachel Dratch playing Mrs. Alito during the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler News Update last night. First Rachel listened to the sonorous drone of the Senior Senator from MA and then made the old bottle-in-the-mouth signal with thumb and fist.

Then the camera shifted to Joe Biden going on and on, and Rachel played Mrs. Alito first falling asleep and then looking at her watch and then with a long hairy white beard.

Then George shifted to the Daily Show running a lineup of Kennedy, Leahy and Schumer prating about the Concerned Alumni of Princeton's wanting to exclude women and blacks from the University. Jon Stewart then points to a lineup of ten white male Senators in a row and let's the picture point out the ponderous hypocrisy of these preening blowhards.

Then George jump-shifted to noted actor Anthony Hopkins describing how he played Hitler and Nixon and other political obsessives so well. Hopkins reminded Stephanopoulous that most political autocrats are narcissistic isolated egomaniacs. Hmmm. Anthony then mused on Saddam in his courtroom cage being metaphorically just an extension of his loathsome life as a Dictator.

But then, my mind drifted back to isolated narcissistic self-absorbed Judiciary Committee members.

I just wonder how some of these morally challenged hypocrites would act were they in the White House.

So much for the World's Greatest Deliberative Body.
